The Latvian airline airBaltic continues to strengthen its commitment to the Lithuanian market. Thus, for the upcoming summer season 2026, the airline will expand connectivity from Vilnius by introducing two new direct routes – to Zurich (Switzerland) and Chisinau (Moldova). Overall, these developments will offer Lithuanian passengers broader travel options and smoother onward connections across Europe and beyond.

From early April 2026, airBaltic will begin operation two weekly flights from Vilnius to Chisinau, providing a convenient link between Lithuania and Moldova’s capital. Then, from the beginning of May, passengers will gain access to three weekly flights to Zurich. Together, these new services will support business and leisure travel while strengthening Lithuania’s connectivity with Central and Western Europe.

This follows the previously announced Kaunas (Lithuania)–Riga (Latvia) route, opening up connectivity from Lithuania’s second largest city to over 70 destinations via airBaltic’s Riga hub. This will be operated five times per week, enabling passengers from Kaunas to access more than 80 destinations. In addition, airBaltic will be the first network carrier to operate from Kaunas Airport with its modern Airbus A220-300 fleet, which is gradually being equipped with free and fast SpaceX Starlink internet, ensuring an unprecedented travel experience for passengers.
Mantas Vrubliauskas, Vice President Network Management of airBaltic: “Lithuania remains one of the most important markets for airBaltic, and by expanding our operations in Vilnius, we are further strengthening our presence in the region. New routes to Zurich and Chisinau, along with enhanced transfer options via Riga, will provide Lithuanian travelers with more choice, flexibility, and convenience. With a planned seat capacity increase of 21% in Lithuania next summer – alongside growth across all Baltic capitals – we are improving connectivity across Europe and supporting the long-term development of air travel in Lithuania.”

In total, during the summer season 2026, airBaltic will connect Lithuania – Vilnius, Kaunas, and Palanga – to more than 20 direct destinations, while also offering seamless connections to over 80 destinations across its wider network. In total, during the summer season, the airline will operate over 110 routes across all its bases.

Furthermore, for the upcoming summer season, airBaltic will also add new destinations from its main hub in Riga – including Warsaw (Poland), Gothenburg (Sweden), Antalya (Turkey), and Oulu (Finland) – while relaunching flights to Aberdeen (United Kingdom), Belgrade (Serbia), and Yerevan (Armenia). The schedules for these routes are designed to ensure smooth transfers in Riga for passengers traveling from Lithuania, strengthening one-stop connectivity and further broadening the airline’s network.

Over the past 30 years, airBaltic has evolved into a globally respected carrier. Now the airline is connecting the Baltic States to 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region, providing essential infrastructure and global connectivity for the region.
