Latvian airline airBaltic marks the first year of its Business Class upgrade bidding service, developed by Plusgrade, a company specializing in ancillary revenue solutions. Since its launch in December 2024, more than 17 thousand passengers have successfully bid for an upgrade to Business Class and enjoy the airline’s premium product.

Līga Gundega, VP Revenue Management at airBaltic: “Passenger feedback has been very encouraging, particularly regarding the ease of use and convenience of the service. With upgrade bidding, travelers can tailor their journey and enjoy the comfort and benefits of our Business Class product, with upgrades offered when seats are available.

”The highest volume of upgrade bids has been recorded on routes such as Riga-London, Riga-Berlin, Riga-Vienna, Tallinn-Amsterdam, Tallinn-Malaga, Tallinn-London, Vilnius-Amsterdam, Vilnius-Paris, Vilnius-Munich and others, with successful bids starting from EUR 60.

The Business Class upgrade process is simple – seven days before the flight, passengers will receive an invitation email if an upgrade is available on their route depending on seat availability. They can then place and submit a bid. No later than twelve hours before the flight, passengers will be notified if their bid has been accepted. Starting bids on selected routes begin at EUR 60, with higher starting prices applying to longer or high-demand routes. More details about the Business Class upgrade bidding service are available on airBaltic’s website.

Business Class is available on all airBaltic scheduled flights. Passengers receive two cabin bags and two checked bags, with one checked bag allowed to be sports equipment. They also enjoy access to the business lounge, fast-track access at security checkpoints, priority check-in and boarding, a seat in the front of the cabin with an empty seat next to them for more privacy, onboard meal and beverage service, and priority disembarkation. A dedicated cabin crew serves the Business Class cabin.

Over the past 30 years, airBaltic has evolved into a globally respected carrier. Now the airline is connecting the Baltic States to 80 destinations across Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, and the Caucasus region, providing essential infrastructure and global connectivity for the region.
